Job Summary

The Technical Process Engineer is a system‑focused engineering role responsible for improving manufacturing throughput, flow, and delivery reliability through disciplined process engineering and operations science. This position applies Theory of Constraints (TOC), Factory Physics, and structured experimentation to identify, stabilize, and elevate system constraints—without compromising safety, quality, or process integrity.

Unlike roles focused on daily production expediting or firefighting, this position concentrates on structural, long‑term improvement of manufacturing flow, capability, and constraint behavior. The Technical Process Engineer takes a holistic view of material flow, information flow, and process capability, partnering cross‑functionally to align manufacturing processes with business demand.

This role works under the direction of the Technical Project Manager (TPM) of Process Engineering, supporting plant‑wide flow objectives and constraint management strategy through data‑driven analysis and validated improvement efforts.

This role is onsite in Dyersburg, TN. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify manufacturing system constraints and bottlenecks using Theory of Constraints, Operations Science, and Factory Physics principles
  • Analyze cycle time, queue time, WIP, yield, and throughput data to diagnose performance losses and prioritize improvement opportunities
  • Lead efforts to exploit and elevate constraints by reducing variation, controlling WIP, implementing standard work, and redesigning processes—starting at the bottleneck
  • Evaluate the system‑level impact of local process changes to prevent sub‑optimization and ensure enterprise‑wide improvement
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, TOC, and Six Sigma tools to stabilize flow and improve process capability at constrained operations
  • Design and implement process controls, error‑proofing, and standard work that protect quality while improving speed and reliability
  • Conduct structured root cause analysis and lead small, fast, low‑risk experiments at the gemba to validate improvement hypotheses
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure processes are predictable, capable, and aligned with demand
  • Support investigation of chronic throughput instability, quality issues, and delivery misses by focusing on upstream process behavior
  • Monitor and communicate performance trends, clearly linking constraint behavior to business outcomes such as lead time, service level, and cost
  • Mentor and coach stakeholders on TOC thinking, system behavior, and disciplined process improvement methods
  • Ensure all improvements align with ERMCO safety standards, quality requirements, and long‑term operational sustainability

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or related discipline)
  • 3–5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, operations engineering, or technical continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of Theory of Constraints, Factory Physics, Lean Manufacturing, and structured problem‑solving methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and improving manufacturing bottlenecks in complex production environments
  • Strong analytical capability with experience using operational data to assess flow, variation, and system performance
  • Experience improving quality and yield through process design and variation reduction rather than reliance on inspection
  • Effective cross‑functional communication and collaboration skills
  • Systems mindset with the discipline to prioritize work based on constraint impact and overall performance
  • Self‑directed, data‑driven approach and comfort working in environments that require experimentation and learning
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and advancing ERMCO’s operational excellence initiatives
