The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for driving excellence and efficiency across all inventory management activities. This role will lead the continuous improvement of inventory procedures, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and operational consistency across all locations.

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop, refine, and implement process improvements to enhance existing operational and inventory control procedures, driving efficiency and accuracy across the supply chain.
  • Create, document, and maintain up-to-date standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all inventory control processes and functions to ensure consistent application and compliance.
  • Perform and oversee regular inventory cycle counts, analyzing discrepancies, identifying root causes, and executing corrective actions to maintain optimal accuracy.
  • Design and manage system controls for inventory storage, movement, and tracking, leveraging data-driven insights to strengthen process reliability.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify trends and prevent recurrence.
  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics for inventory accountability, including loss tolerances, accuracy rates, and improvement targets.
  • Generate and present inventory performance reports to management, providing actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure stock levels are efficiently managed to meet operational and production demands.
  • Standardize and optimize inventory management processes across all facilities, ensuring alignment with company policies, best practices, and operational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in inventory management or supply chain; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have a detailed understanding of MRP and inventory control/management systems and ERP.
  • CPIM certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools is a plus.
  • Possess strong skills in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively with initiative and drive.
  • Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
