The Production Manager leads and coordinates manufacturing operations across assigned production lines, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met. Develop high-performance teams and drive continuous improvement through effective leadership, planning, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Essential Functions: 

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Build and lead high-performance teams that monitor and improve their own performance.
    • Motivate and develop supervisors and group leaders to meet production goals.
    • Resolve personnel issues respectfully and effectively, including disciplinary actions.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, consistency, and respect.

    Production & Operations Management

    • Direct daily production activities to meet schedules and customer requirements.
    • Plan and coordinate manufacturing processes, priorities, and sequences.
    • Monitor and adjust staffing levels based on forecasts and production needs.
    • Ensure consistent application of quality and environmental standards across shifts.
    • Lead cost reduction and standardization initiatives.

    Planning & Coordination

    • Collaborate with HR, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance.
    • Support inventory accuracy and demand planning.
    • Optimize production floor layout and equipment usage.

    Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

    • Apply Lean, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
    • Analyze data and trends to drive operational improvements.
    • Investigate new processes and technologies for startup and efficiency.
    • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
    • Promote a safe working environment and enforce PPE and LOTO procedures.
    • Ensure ISO standards and procedures are followed.

    Communication & Reporting

    • Communicate KPIs, goals, and expectations clearly to teams.
    • Issue written and oral instructions to supervisors and team leaders.
    • Maintain production performance data and generate meaningful reports.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5–10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication (oral and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., AS400).
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and bills of material.
  • Understanding of ISO systems and manufacturing processes.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally sit.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and respond to safety hazards.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, heat, and vibration.
  • Moderate noise levels in the work environment.

Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a minimum of three years of manufacturing experience; or an Associate’s degree with at least five years of manufacturing experience; or a high school diploma with a minimum of seven years of manufacturing experience.
