Overview

Build, modify, design, and repair machinery and equipment as directed. Directs and controls multiple fabrication projects.

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Updates project list with Manager, Production Services, and coordinates schedule of individual projects

  • Participate in designing new and modifying existing equipment and machinery.
  • Produces prints and drawings as required.
  • Ensures all phases fabrication are being performed effectively.
  • Identifies and solves any problems with equipment or personnel.
  • Build new machinery, equipment, and fixtures, and rebuild and refurbish equipment as needed.
  • Paint new and refurbished equipment
  • Operate fabrication equipment, machines, and tools.
  • Maintains open communication with maintenance and warehouse to ensure project schedules are met.
  • Ensures consistent and maximum throughput while maintaining quality.
  • Ensures that product loss and scrap are kept to a minimum
  • Maintains raw material and supply inventories and notifies purchasing when items need to be ordered.
  • Trains new hires as well as long-term employees on fabrication team
  • Complies with and enforces all company policies and procedures.
  • Always keeps plant fabrication/tool area in ‘tour-ready’ condition.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Fabrication systems, processes, and equipment
  • Welding processes and equipment
  • Mechanical systems and machine design
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as: drawings, prints, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

SKILL IN:

  • Fusion 360 or Inventor, and other electronic drawing software
  • Welding: MIG and TIG
  • Plasma Cutting
  • Lathe and Mill Setup / Operation
  • Ironworker, Shears, Punch and Dies
  • Fabrication Tools and processes
  • Use of measuring devices such as: caliper and micrometer.
  • Operating a forklift.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 3+ years of MIG welding experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in machine fabrication and design operations; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
