Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Production Scheduler to join our Scheduling Department. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for scheduling production activities across multiple manufacturing departments within the distribution transformer industry. Your expertise will ensure efficient production processes, timely fulfillment of customer orders, and optimal use of resources. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in production planning, keen analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for multiple manufacturing departments, ensuring optimal efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Coordinate with production, sales, and logistics teams to align production plans with customer orders and delivery schedules.
  • Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Adjust schedules as necessary in response to production challenges, material shortages, labor constraints, or other unforeseen issues.
  • Monitor production progress against schedules to identify potential delays or bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of materials and components required for production.
  • Support the implementation of new scheduling software or systems to improve planning accuracy and efficiency.

Competencies

  • Independent judgment and decision-making: The scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining short- and long-term production plans, adjusting schedules proactively based on demand fluctuations, inventory levels, material availability, and equipment downtime, all without direct supervision or step-by-step instruction.
  • Non-routine and high-impact responsibilities: This role requires constant cross-functional coordination with departments such as operations, procurement, logistics, engineering, and sales. The scheduler must analyze complex data sets, manage capacity constraints, and implement planning improvements, which go beyond routine production tasks.
  • Strategic contribution: The Production Scheduler directly influences operational efficiency,  and customer satisfaction. Their planning decisions affect delivery performance, inventory turnover, and resource optimization, also all of which are strategically important to our site objectives.
  • Professional expertise: The position requires a professional background in industrial engineering, supply chain, or a related field, along with proficiency in ERP systems, advanced Excel, and analytical tools. This level of expertise and autonomy aligns with the expectations for an exempt-level professional role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in production scheduling, preferably within the distribution transformer industry or a related manufacturing sector.
  • Proven track record of managing complex production schedules across multiple departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving scheduling issues.
  • Adaptability to change and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Strong math and computer skills
