Who Are You
The General Manager is a strategic and execution-driven leadership role, responsible for all facets of production, quality, maintenance, and manufacturing engineering at our electrical transformer manufacturing facility. This role requires a highly involved leader with a proven ability to drive change from within the operation. The General Manager will be accountable for the plant’s overall performance, with a strong focus on safety, throughput, operational efficiency, and financial results.

 

A critical component of this role is leading transformational change - the ideal candidate will bring proven turnaround experience, demonstrating the ability to stabilize operations, drive performance improvement, and build a high-performing, engaged workforce. This role requires a blend of operational excellence, change leadership, and strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

 

What Will You Do

  • Lead comprehensive turnaround initiatives to rapidly stabilize and improve plant performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Develop and implement business transformation strategies aligned with corporate objectives, delivering measurable performance gains.
  • Provide strong, decisive leadership during periods of operational disruption or underperformance, focusing on sustainable and scalable solutions.
  • Direct all daily plant operations while collaborating with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and support.
  • Drive operational KPIs through root cause analysis, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Lead efforts to optimize plant-wide budgeting, forecasting, CapEx investments, and cost-control measures as part of overall turnaround plans.
  • Build and reinforce a culture of accountability, safety, and high engagement using servant leadership principles and performance management tools.
  • Mentor and develop supervisors and emerging leaders, establishing a strong internal talent pipeline to support long-term organizational stability.
  • Strengthen strategic relationships with customers and vendors to support production goals and reinforce confidence during the turnaround period.
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company standards, especially during periods of accelerated change.
  • Drive workforce transformation through targeted hiring, training, and retention strategies to support a high-performing post-turnaround operation.

Qualifications

 

What Will You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven history of leading successful plant turnarounds or major operational transformations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 10 years in manufacturing, with at least 7 years in progressive leadership roles, including full P&L responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing large-scale budgets, cost controls, and capital projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, with a hands-on and collaborative leadership style.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the electrical transformers or heavy industrial manufacturing sector.
  • Certifications or training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related operational excellence methodologies.
