Who Are You

The Senior Network Administrator – Operational Technology (OT) plays a pivotal role in overseeing and securing operational technology (OT) systems essential to the manufacturing and production of distribution transformers. This position serves as the critical link between enterprise IT infrastructure and plant-floor OT environments, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient integration of systems such as SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and other industrial control technologies.

This role demands deep enterprise networking expertise, with advanced, hands-on Fortinet skills. Candidates must hold an NSE4 or higher certification, exceeding the baseline “Fortinet Certified Professional” level. Success requires real-world capability to independently manage and configure complex deployments. Fortinet experience must be on par with Palo Alto, and more advanced than Meraki or Ubiquiti. The largest challenge in this position is not theoretical knowledge, but the ability to get into the cockpit of Fortinet and take off.

The ideal candidate brings expert-level network administration experience, proficiency with OT systems, and a strong ambition to expand further into advanced OT environments. A healthy understanding of the networking infrastructure needed to support OT environments is essential, along with demonstrated familiarity with Fortinet technologies that administer and secure production networks. Candidates should have a proven track record of deploying Fortinet infrastructure to manage and protect mission-critical OT systems.

**Remote or hybrid work flexibility with up to 50% travel required to company locations in Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Georgia; relocation assistance available if needed.

Responsibilities

What Will You Do

  • Utilize Fortinet solutions to support secure network segmentation, firewall protection, and threat detection across OT infrastructure.
  • Assist with all in-house Fortinet projects and collaborate on network implementations and deployments involving SD-WAN, wireless networking, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Cisco.
  • Administer and maintain OT systems including SCADA, PLCs, and HMIs, ensuring high performance, availability, and alignment with operational goals.
  • Implement and enforce cybersecurity controls using the Purdue Model Framework and Industrial Control Segmentation to protect OT environments from cyber threats.
  • Develop and maintain OT security policies and procedures in alignment with NIST 800 standards and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering, and production teams to integrate OT systems with enterprise IT infrastructure, supporting data exchange, analytics, and secure connectivity.
  • Monitor and optimize OT system performance through proactive maintenance, firmware updates, and system health checks to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues within OT environments, including SCADA and control networks, ensuring minimal impact on production.
  • Lead and manage OT system upgrades and expansion projects, ensuring compliance with IT security standards and alignment with manufacturing requirements.
  • Stay current with advancements in OT cybersecurity, SCADA technologies, and compliance frameworks, recommending improvements for system resilience and performance.

Qualifications

What Will You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; certifications such as GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years managing OT systems in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Fortinet certification at NSE4 or higher is required; practical experience with complex Fortinet deployments is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience working with SD-WAN, wireless networking, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Cisco technologies.
  • Proven ability to implement and manage OT cybersecurity controls with familiarity in industrial risk mitigation.
  • In-depth knowledge of OT systems and technologies, including SCADA, PLCs, DCS, and industrial networking protocols.
  • Strong grasp of cybersecurity principles and best practices as they apply to OT environments, including secure network architecture and access control.
  • Demonstrated experience with IT/OT convergence, integration strategies, and resolving interoperability challenges.
  • Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially in high-stakes, real-time OT environments.
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills, with the ability to work across IT, operations, engineering, and vendor teams.
