Who Are You
The IT/OT Administrator plays a pivotal role in overseeing and securing operational technology (OT) systems essential to the manufacturing and production of distribution transformers. This position serves as the critical link between enterprise IT infrastructure and plant-floor OT environments, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient integration of systems such as SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, and other industrial control technologies. Responsibilities include maintaining network connectivity, implementing cybersecurity protocols, and supporting real-time data exchange between production systems and corporate IT platforms. The role is key to enhancing operational continuity, minimizing downtime, and supporting digital transformation initiatives across the organization.

 

**Remote or hybrid work flexibility with up to 50% travel required to company locations in Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Georgia; relocation assistance available if needed.

Responsibilities

 

What Will You Do

  • Administer and maintain OT systems including SCADA, PLCs, and HMIs, ensuring high performance, availability, and alignment with operational goals.
  • Implement and enforce cybersecurity controls using the Purdue Model Framework and Industrial Control Segmentation to protect OT environments from cyber threats.
  • Develop and maintain OT security policies and procedures in alignment with NIST 800 standards and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT, engineering, and production teams to integrate OT systems with enterprise IT infrastructure, supporting data exchange, analytics, and secure connectivity.
  • Monitor and optimize OT system performance through proactive maintenance, firmware updates, and system health checks to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Respond to and resolve technical issues within OT environments, including SCADA and control networks, ensuring minimal impact on production.
  • Lead and manage OT system upgrades and expansion projects, ensuring compliance with IT security standards and alignment with manufacturing requirements.
  • Utilize Fortinet solutions to support secure network segmentation, firewall protection, and threat detection across OT infrastructure.
  • Stay current with advancements in OT cybersecurity, SCADA technologies, and compliance frameworks, recommending improvements for system resilience and performance.
  • This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

What Will You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; certifications such as GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or equivalent experience in ICS security preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years specifically managing OT systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience implementing and managing OT cybersecurity controls, with familiarity in risk mitigation for industrial environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of OT systems and technologies, including SCADA, PLCs, DCS, and industrial networking protocols.
  • Strong grasp of cybersecurity principles and best practices as they apply to OT environments, including secure network architecture and access control.
  • Demonstrated experience with IT/OT convergence, including integration strategies and resolution of interoperability challenges.
  • High attention to detail with a consistent focus on ensuring system reliability, performance, and security.
  • Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, particularly in diagnosing OT system issues under pressure.
  • Effective communication and project management capabilities, with the ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with IT, engineering, operations, and external vendors.
