Overview

The Senior Learning Specialist plays a crucial role in the Training and Development team, responsible for supporting and coordinating the creation and delivery of effective training programs. This role involves assessing organizational development needs, creating content, developing curricula, and managing learning and development initiatives. Specific programs include new hire orientation, continuous improvement training, on-the-job training, and leadership development. Additionally, the Senior Learning Specialist provides leadership and mentorship to other Learning Specialists. Collaboration with various departments is essential to identify developmental needs and execute training sessions both within the plant and across the enterprise.

 The ideal candidate has experience with various training methods, including classroom / virtual classroom training, on-the-job training, coaching, mentorship programs and e-learning. Experience with different learning programs such as management training and technical skills development is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with internal stakeholders to identify training needs, gather requirements, and develop tailored solutions that address specific business

  • Lead the assessment of training needs by partnering with department leadership and providing strategic recommendations.
  • Design, develop, and implement curricula and training materials using a variety of multimedia resources, including interactive videos, and digital simulations, to enhance learner engagement and retention.
  • Facilitate learning sessions and workshops using a variety of training methods, such as classroom training, virtual classroom training, on-the-job training, coaching, mentorship programs, and e-learning, to cultivate new skills and strengths across the workforce.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver and track training, including eLearning modules, session completion rates, and training metrics, while working closely with the Learning System Administrator.
  • Develop comprehensive course assessments, training evaluations, quizzes, and meaningful, interactive activities that significantly enhance learning outcomes.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of training programs by rigorously monitoring results against corporate goals and key performance indicators and implement data-driven improvements to maximize impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement of learning programs, including new hire training and continuous improvement initiatives, to ensure they remain effective and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to other Learning Specialists, fostering a collaborative and innovative learning environment.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA in Organizational Development, Organizational Leadership, Human Resource Development, Education, Psychology, or related field.
  • 5-7  years direct experience with Instructional Design or curriculum development and delivering content, preferably in a corporate learning and development environment.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing environment and the learning and development needs of front-line workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Understanding of manufacturing policies, practices, trends, and technology.
  • A combination of experience and education may also be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • MS Office proficiency - Word Processing and Business Software – Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. 
  • Content authoring tools - Knowledge of software applications used to create interactive multimedia content for use in the classroom or mobile device. 
  • Presentation Skills - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and clarifies; Responds productively to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings. Utilizes proper grammar and ensures non-verbal communication is professional.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Problem Solving - Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Able to identify gaps and trends; makes recommendations to improve processes.
  • Adaptability - Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Able to transition applied training to a successful job skill transfer; uses various methods and applications of adult learning styles. Ability to manage multiple projects and time.
