Overview

We are hiring for a HR Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and administering the Human Resources functions for each plant in the area(s) of Benefits, Employment/Recruitment, HRIS, Payroll, and daily HR Operations.  May provide support assistance to the Talent Acquisition and Retention Team, Team Member Relations, Safety, and Security functions.    

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the best customer service to every employee and department.
  • Always display professionalism. Build an environment based on confidentiality, respect, and trust.
  • Communicate and educate our company mission and vision to drive it throughout the organization.
  • Evaluate all HR processes and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate post-employment processes including job offers, background checks, physical/DS, candidate notifications, and start date.
  • Support, coordinate, and/or facilitate orientation and programs for new hires to foster positive mindset toward company goals.
  • Assist in policy/procedure communication, guidance, and related education activities to ensure HR policies, practices, and procedures are understood and consistently applied.
  • Keep record of insurance coverage, pension plan, and personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews and terminations.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation.
  • Create and maintain team member files for recordkeeping.
  • Review timesheets to ensure consistency.
  • Administer the job bid process while ensuring consistency with internal candidates.
  • Support payroll and benefit administration by assisting team members with inquiries or issues regarding benefits, pay, open enrollment meetings, status changes, vacation, leaves of absence, etc.
  • Support health and wellness activities and participate in professional and community activities.
  • Administer employment verifications, benefit verifications, child support withholdings, security badges, and other miscellaneous HR actions.
  • Maintain employment related information regarding temporary team members.
  • Arrange hire of temporary team members and collaborate with manufacturing for placement of temporary workers.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all employment laws.
  • Any other HR duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of Human Resources experience or an Associate's degree and 6+ years of Human Resources experience. 
  • Experience in MS Word/Excel preferred. 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other employees within his/her department and other departments with which they interface.
  • Computer literacy and a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and data base programs.
