Overview

We have an opening in our Materials Department for a Distribution Center Supervisor.  This person would be responsible for the supervision of operations at the Distribution Center at ERMCO. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Develop, implement & train staff on new warehousing procedures consistent with best practices.
  • Make improvements & train staff on existing warehouse procedures.
  • Supervise & coordinate the activities on all shifts to achieve timely & efficient distribution methods.
  • Experience in setting goals & coaching warehouse staffing across multiple shifts.
  • Leadership in a Supply Chain capacity, such as inventory stock counting/inventory location accuracy checks.
  • Inventory Control Experience, Implement and supervise system controls for storage and movement.
  • Supervise a safe and disciplined work environment with the ability to strategize warehouse & inventory metrics.
  • Drive 6S & relative performance metrics in the workplace to world class standards.
  • Develop the capability in your direct reports to maximize their contribution.
  • Establish strategy and best practices to ensure business objectives (KPI’s) are achieved. 
  • Use analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate the challenges faced by the organization and take action to mitigate risks while developing opportunities.
  • Work with and through a team to advance the material traceability using the systems that operate the business.
  • Provide routine supervisor information on facility performance: transfer efficiency, stock levels, part builds.
  • Co-ordinate with the Receiving, Inventory Control, and Purchasing Teams on the flow of material - loading, storage and transfer activities.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Abilities:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred; or five years’ experience in supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPIM is a plus.
  • Have a detailed understanding of MRP and inventory control/management systems and ERP.
  • Supervisory & performance management of staff experience required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail is required.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools is a plus.
  • Possess strong skills in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively across the organization.
  • Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively with initiative and drive.
