Responsible for all aspects of cost accounting for all locations. The Cost Accounting Manager will ensure consistency in setting cost accounting standards, monitor inventory, and investigate cost variances. This person will work with other departments to ensure accuracy in calculating costs and determining pricing and gross margins.
Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
• Analyze gross margins and contribution margins across product lines and customers and coordinate with Sales on recommended pricing adjustments
• Determine standard material costs and labor and overhead allocation amounts for annual cost roll
• Examine inventory levels at all locations and coordinate with Supply Chain on reduction efforts
• Lead annual physical inventory processes, and help implement cycle counting program
• Investigate purchase price variances and work with Purchasing on resolution of cost descrepancies
• Research material, labor, and overhead price and quantity variances and work with Engineering and Operations on corrections to routings/bills of material
• Develop and update accounting and operational process and procedures and document inventory management and costing processes
Knowledge/Abilities:
• Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting
• 8+ years of experience in public accounting/manufacturing
• BA in Accounting or Finance
• CPA/CMA preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, ability to work across departments
