Overview

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer supports the manufacturing team in enhancing efficiency, quality, and productivity within a distribution transformer manufacturing facility. This role will collaborate on the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes under the guidance of more experienced engineers. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical foundation, a willingness to learn, and an eagerness to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for the production of distribution transformers.
  • Support process engineering projects, including machinery setup, equipment layout, and workflow supervised by senior engineers.
  • Help in conducting process simulations and modeling to predict production issues and identify potential solutions.
  • Assist in the implementation of quality control processes and monitor compliance with quality standards.
  • Participate in time studies to measure work processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform cost analysis on manufacturing processes to identify areas for efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to help integrate new products into the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain documentation for manufacturing processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in conducting failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify potential process risks.
  • Support the commissioning and decommissioning of production lines and equipment.
  • Provide technical support to production staff and operators as needed.
  • Stay updated on basic manufacturing technologies and process engineering techniques.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Internships or prior related experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic process improvement concepts and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with CAD software for equipment layout and process design is a plus.
  • Proactive attitude with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other relevant process improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a continuous improvement mindset.
