Overview

The General Manager is entrusted with full oversight of our electrical transformer components manufacturing facility.  This position involves managing all aspects of plant operations, such as production, quality assurance, safety protocols, and maintenance activities.  The General Manager will formulate and execute strategies aimed at boosting productivity and ensuring high-quality output, while maintaining a safe working environment.  The ideal candidate will bring extensive managerial experience, a solid foundation in manufacturing, and exceptional leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of plant activities, ensuring operations are efficient, and production targets are met or exceeded.
  • Experience in some aspect of transformer manufacturing or electrical equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Oversight of the design and installation of new manufacturing lines as well as removal and transfer of existing lines. 
  • Demonstrated P&L management and control Manage plant expenses against the budget, focusing on manufacturing margins and cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
  • Build associate engagement by championing cultural values including enthusiasm, commitment, and involvement.
  • Ensure that all plant machinery and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production.
  • Maintain the highest quality standards in all products produced, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer expectations.
  • Foster a culture of safety within the plant, implementing policies and procedures that exceed industry standards and protect all employees.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes and systems to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • Oversee the training and development of plant staff, ensuring all employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Manage production scheduling and inventory control to meet production demands and optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure timely and accurate shipping of products, aligning with customer requirements and company logistics strategies.
  • Lead staffing efforts, employee engagement, and retention initiatives, building a motivated, skilled, and cohesive team.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and supply chain departments to align manufacturing capabilities with business objectives.
  • Represent the manufacturing plant in corporate meetings and discussions, providing updates and insights on plant operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Significant experience in plant or operations management within a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record of improving operations and achieving results.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, supply chain management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and financial management skills.
  • Exceptional servant leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead teams while building employee engagement.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and engage at all levels within the plant.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing conditions.
