Overview

We are seeking a 1st shift Fabricator (8am-4:30pm) for our Antioch, IL facility. The Fabricator will be responsible for building, modifying, designing, and repairing machinery and equipment as directed. Directs and controls multiple fabrication projects.

Responsibilities

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Updates project list with Manager, Production Services and coordinates schedule of individual projects
  • Participate in designing new and modifying existing equipment and machinery
  • Produces prints and drawings as required
  • Ensures all phases fabrication are being performed effectively
  • Identifies and solves any problems with equipment or personnel
  • Build new machinery, equipment, and fixtures, and rebuild and refurbish equipment as needed
  • Paint new and refurbished equipment
  • Operate fabrication equipment, machines, and tools
  • Maintains open communication with maintenance and warehouse to ensure project schedules are met
  • Ensures consistent and maximum throughput while maintaining quality
  • Ensures that product loss and scrap are kept to a minimum
  • Maintains raw material and supply inventories, and notifies purchasing when items need to be ordered
  • Trains new hires as well as long-term employees on proper equipment use
  • Communicates with maintenance and production to meet fabrication needs
  • Complies with and enforces all company policies and procedures
  • Keeps plant fabrication/tool area organized and clean at all times

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Fabrication systems, processes, and equipment
  • Welding processes and equipment
  • Mechanical systems and machine design
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as: drawings, prints, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

 

SKILL IN:

  • Welding: MIG and TIG
  • Plasma Cutting
  • Lathe and Mill Setup / Operation
  • Ironworker, Shears, Punch and Dies
  • Fabrication Tools and processes                      
  • Use of measuring devices such as: caliper and micrometer.
  • Operating a forklift.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years of MIG welding experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in machine fabrication and design operations; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
